Background
Born in the hills of Dehradun and raised in Delhi NCR, Ragaroots’ was exposed to Rock and Metal music from a very young age. Having witnessed live concerts of International artists like Lamb of God, Slayer, and Meshuggah, and Indian greats like Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ustad Zakir Hussain, he felt the true and all-encompassing power of music and was convinced that he wanted to create and pursue music for the rest of life. He taught himself to play the guitar, but soon realised that his knowledge was incomplete and that he must go deeper into the roots of Indian music. So after completing a course in Audio Engg. from SAE Bangalore, he decided to dedicate his time to learn Sitar for the next decade under his guru, the brilliant exponent of Banaras Gharana- Padmashri Pandit Shivnath Mishra.
"A wide gap has appeared between Indian Classical Music and Commercial Pop Music. These days the average listener finds it difficult to appreciate long recordings of Classical Raga Performances as their attention span has drastically reduced in the modern day fast paced lifestyle. As a result the audience for Classical Music is dwindling. Ragaroots’ aims to bridge this gap with his crisp compositions which utilise the best parts of a classical Raga, and layers it on top of modern electronic grooves and rhythms. "
